کافه گالری کاراکتر در مجاورت یکی از خیابان های اصلی مهرشهر در استان البرز و در زمینی به مساحت ۵۳۰ متر مربع واقع شده است. بنا قدیمی این پروژه ساختمانی دو طبقه با زیرساخت های تاسیساتی ضعیف، پلانی پیچیده و تعداد زیادی بازشوهای قوسی شکل بود. به سبب کمبود بودجه و تسریع زمان اجرا سعی بر آن داشتیم تا با بکارگیری ایده ای منعطف و ایجاد تعریفی جدید برای بازشوهای قوسی شکل بنا، کمترین میزان تخریب و تغییر را در بنا قدیمی ایجاد نماییم.

بنابراین با بازتعریف ساباط های موجود در گذرگاه های تاریخی، تغییر در عمق بازشوها و ایجاد کشیدگی در فرم آن ها قوس ها را به دالون هایی برای ایجاد سیرکولاسیون تبدیل کردیم و بر اهمیت عبور از فضا به فضایی دیگر تاکید نمودیم تا مخاطبانمان حس کنجکاوانه و مطلوب حضور در گذرهای پیچیده و دالونی شهرهای تاریخی ایران را این بار در پروژه ای امروزین تجربه کنند. این ایده بستر شکل گیری و طراحی هویت سازمانی و کلیه مبلمان و اکسسوری های پروژه مثل کانتر بار، کانتر صندوق، میز و کتابخانه اتاق مدیریت و… شد.

ورودی اصلی این پروژه در امتداد دیواره های حیاط و از ساختاری نظام مند از مصالح بتن و ورق زنگ زده شکل گرفته و برای ایجاد ارتباط بصری رهگذران با فضای داخلی حیاط پروژه شکاف هایی لحاظ شده که فرصتی برای حضور گیاهان را نیز فراهم کرده است. کافه گالری کاراکتر دارای دو حیاط در قسمت جلو و پشت ساختمان است. حیاط جلو دارای نشیمن هایی داخل آب و در مجاورت فضای سبز و موسیقی آرامش بخش فواره های کوتاه آب است و حیاط پشت ساختمان نیز دارای نشیمن هایی در کنار کاج ها و بافت سبز انبوه آنجاست. طبقه پایین ساختمان به سالن اصلی، فضای بار و فضاهای خدماتی اختصاص داده شده است و با پله ای تا خورده از جنس آهن به گالری، اتاق مدیریت، اتاق کنترل و تراس های طبقه بالا دسترسی دارد.

با توجه به اینکه حفظ ساختار پیچیده پلان از پیش فرض های مهم ما در طراحی این پروژه بود برای درک بهتر مخاطبان از کاربری فضاها تصمیم به کاربرد رنگ در داخل دالون ها و فضاها گرفتیم تا مخاطبین در هر پیش فضا نسبت به کاربری فضای بعد آن آگاهی یابند.

Character Café & Gallery is located next to one of the main streets of Mehrshahr in Alborz province, with the area of 530 square meters.This old building was a two-stoery construction with poor infrastructure, a complex plan and numerous arched openings. Due to lack of budget and accelerated run-time, we tried to create the least amount of damage and alteration to the old building by applying a flexible idea and creating a new definition for the arch shaped openings. So we redefined Sabat which is an element of historical crossings of Yazd city in order to change the depth of opening and creating elongation in the form of arches.

By doing these changes, we have transformed those arches to the corridors to create circulation and emphasized the importance of crossing among spaces to give our audiences a sense of curiosity and let them to experience the presence of Iranian historical cities. This idea became concept of designing Corporate Identity, furniture and accessories like bar counter, cashier desk and library of management office. The main entrance of the project is formed along the walls of the courtyard that is made by concrete and rusted sheets with some slots to create a visual connection with the interiors of project’s courtyard. These slots have been provided an opportunity for plants to be present.

Character Café and Gallery has two courtyards in the front and back of the building. Front yard’s seats are surrounded by greenery and relaxing sound of water and the backyard has its own seating area next to pine trees and dense greenery. Ground floor is designated to main lounge, bar and service area, and it has access to the management office, control room and terraces with the folded ironic stair. Considering preservation of this complex plan was one of our most important presuppositions in the design of this project, so we decide to apply different colors in hallways and other spaces in order to give the audience a better understanding of spaces.
